Help Us Give Back to the Community: Support Our Second Harvest Food Drive!

With the hurricanes that struck Houston and Puerto Rico, earthquakes in Mexico, and the wildfires in Northern California, we know that many of you have given to the relief efforts, as we have. Here’s a chance to help those in need much closer to home. As part of our large, extended family, we'd like to invite you to join with us in helping to feed the hungry in San Jose this holiday season.
Once again we are collecting donations for our local Second Harvest Food Bank which supplies food for a quarter of a million people each month, half of whom are children and seniors. Second Harvest Food Bank accepts all non-perishable food donations, but especially needs these nutritious items: meals in a can (stew, chili, soup), tuna and canned meat, peanut butter, canned foods with pop-top lids, low-sugar cereals, 100% fruit juices in single serving boxes, canned fruit packed in juice, and canned vegetables (low salt). Second Harvest requests that items donated are in cans or plastic containers -- they cannot take items in glass jars.
Last year we collected 615 lbs of food! Our goal for 2017 is 800 lbs. Won’t you help us?
We’ll have three food collection barrels in the studio starting November 14 through December 21st. Like we did last year, Santa Teresa Academy will match each item brought in with a $1 donation! Bring in your food donations and watch your charitable efforts multiply! When you bring your food donation in, please let us know and we’ll fill out our tally sheet in the lobby. You can keep track along with us! We’d love to see the barrels overflowing and have to write a check for big $$$ to SHFB!
We wish everyone a wonderful Holiday season filled with joy and happiness!

The great composers weren’t saints - they had their rivalries, and in-fighting, too. Check out these jabs from one composer to another:
“He was a six and a half foot scowl.” - Stravinsky on Rachmaninov
“Wagner has beautiful moments but awful quarters of an hour.” - Rossini on Wagner
“Bach on the wrong notes.” - Prokofiev on Stravinsky
“I play through all his music every so often to see if I am right about him. I usually find I underestimated last time how bad he was.” - Britten on Brahms
“One can’t judge Wagner’s opera Lohengrin after a first hearing, and I certainly don’t intend hearing it a second time.” - Rossini on Wagner
“If he’d been making shell cases during the war it would’ve been better for music.” -Saint-Saëns on Ravel
